Igor Netis, DPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Touro College – School of Health Sciences Why did you choose to become a Physical Therapist?
I honestly had little exposure to Physical Therapy other than what I saw during my volunteer hours in a hospital and from hearing about the profession from people who have had physical therapy. I volunteered in several different departments during my time volunteer hours. Still, I was impressed by how physical specialists spent a lot of their time with the people in their care, and when they were not with their patients, they looked to other therapists for advice on how to better their care. During my affiliations and internships, I really fell in love with
outpatient PT as it was the clinical setting that proved to be
the most rewarding and most interesting.
What do you like most about working as a Physical Therapist?
I really love that we not only have the option but are required to spend quality time with our clients and patients, allowing us to build a relationship with them and tailor our care towards their individual needs. I appreciate that aside from providing our services to the client or patient in the clinic, I can help them better help themselves make substantial changes on their own once they leave, which is the most important part.
I graduated with a clinical doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2009 and began working in early 2010. I have learned to appreciate and really enjoy how our profession changes and adapts to new research times. I attempt to adapt my approach as well, from utilizing moving assessments (SFMA) to therapeutic neuroscience education and IASTM.

Conie l. Uygongco, PT, CKTP
Physical Therapist
Physical Therapy from Emilio Aguinaldo College in 2001 in Manila, Philippines. I started working in a pediatric clinic where I gained experience working with children with special needs ranging from infancy to age 12 with conditions like Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Microcephaly, Presider Willi Syndrome, GDD, PDD, to name a few. The pediatric setting exposed me to play therapy and NDTs and working closely with parents and caregivers, which I find vital in obtaining a realistic goal for the child.
Working in a pediatric clinic gave me the opportunity to work in close collaboration with other disciplines of the allied medical health profession, gaining insight from various disciplines and applying a multidisciplinary approach that benefited the client and its family and something that I carry on to date.
I expanded my experience doing volunteer work at various medical center facilities in the Philippines. I dealt with patients in a heterogeneous age group and several orthopedic and neurologic conditions in this setting. Orthopedic cases were frozen shoulder, recurrent shoulder subluxation, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, chronic lower back pain, scoliosis, total hip replacement, ACL repair, total knee replacement, patellofemoral pain syndrome, plantar fasciitis. Neurologic cases handled were Bell’s palsy, CVA, MCA stroke, TIAs, Parkinson’s disease. In the in-patient setting, I was able to treat pulmonary patients, postpartum cases.
I have obtained a New York license before working in TRI-PHYSICAL therapy. Also, I am a certified Kinesio Taping® practitioner. Currently, I place special interest in using gua sha to affect changes in response to treatment. And while the tenet of Physical Therapy is rehabilitation, preventative habilitation should also be emphasized to give the treatment a new flavor and empower each individual to take charge of their own body.
